
Dynamic Analysis of China's Primary Aluminum Imports and Electrolytic Aluminum Inventories in March 2025
According to customs data, China imported 222,100 tons of primary aluminum in March 2025, representing a month-on-month increase of 10.88% but a year-on-year decrease of 10.96%. Russia remained the largest supplier, exporting 201,300 tons to China in March—up 14.12% month-on-month and 74.05% year-on-year. India ranked as the second-largest supplier, exporting 8,700 tons, an increase of 15.33% from the previous month but a sharp year-on-year decline of 64.97%.
As of April 21, 2025, social inventories of electrolytic aluminum in major Chinese markets totaled 676,000 tons, down 12,000 tons from 688,000 tons on April 17. Specifically:
